EA stands for Enrolled Agent and is a certification issued by the Internal Revenue Services to those who pass a 3 part exam demonstrating their proficiency in all areas of taxation including Individual, Corporation and other Ethical requirements. An EA, along with CPAs and attorneys, are the only 3 professions that are granted unlimited representation rights to represent you before the IRS for matters such as an audit. However, an Enrolled Agent specializes in taxes whereas a CPA and attorney may not.
